genre analysis- is a way of looking at several products of a particular genre to analyse their similarities and differences in terms of their purpose and language choice
content analysis- a research technique for making conclusions by systematically and objectively measuring certain characteristics of a text
narrative analysis- is the analysis of the whole story of the text. how it is organised to make a meaningful story, they can be used in forms of documentary, or character and action as in drama.
reception theory- a version of response literary theory that emphasises each particular readers reception or interpretation in making meaning from a literary text.
fan study- is a field of research focussed on media fans and san cultures. Fan cultures are the social or cultural foundations that support fan activities and interests.
Film analysis
Shrek is a simple movie to most people as they just see it as a fun children's movie however it is actually a very moving movie as it shows that beauty comes from the inside and from the things you have done, looks have nothing to do with it. The film is part of the comedy genre this is obvious by the childish and adult jokes that are used in the film, this can also be seen through names of characters such as lord farquaad which is a jab at Disney as it sounds like a very adult insult. The story follows a linear path and invokes themes of love, loss, danger, adventure and many more things. The story also follows the same basic story of a fairy tale. There's a princess who needs rescue and at the end the hero and princess live happily ever after.
